Which Dancing on Ice Contestant’s Kitchen Is This?

At Masterclass, we hit a milestone this month: 50 years of kitchen renovations. After five decades, even celebrities trust us with their luxury renovations. Speaking of which, do you like celebrity kitchen tours? From sport stars to The Great British Bake Off stars – we love them all!

Fortunately, Eastenders legend Charlie Brooks, who just underwent a major home remodel and stars in this year’s Dancing on Ice, let us photograph her home. So, check out her new Scandi kitchen, which our designer, Melina Ashrafi from Sigma 3 Kitchens Esher, a Masterclass retailer, helped her renovate.

What’s more, Charlie generously provided us with the lowdown on her design choices and her experience working with the Masterclass Kitchens team. It’s rare that a celebrity gives this level of access, particularly while preparing for a gruelling reality-TV project, so we’re super fortunate.

Charlie’s Kitchen Redesign Ideas

“To begin with, I was unsure as to what I wanted and which direction I wanted to go,” Charlie told us. “Melina helped me gather information and some great options to help fine tune the final vision. She was super patient and helpful as I can be prone to changing my mind!”

Initially, Charlie admitted, she’d considered a boho kitchen makeover but realised some of the elements would have inevitably inhibited her lifestyle goals. “Melina helped me make some great choices!” she explained. “I can be a little indecisive at times, and really valued her guidance.”

Eventually, the soap star settled on an elegant H-Line Ligna Farmhouse Oak range, complete with LED lighting and Onyx handlerails – an attractive feature only available in handleless kitchens.

“After reviewing several kitchen options, [I] decided the Scandi wood vibe would create more space and organisation, that I could then accessorise afterwards,” Charlie said. And she was right; Melina’s kitchen remodel plans have provided plenty of opportunities for customisation.

Combining warm wood and hygge textures with a marbled quartz worktop and simple Scandi-style furniture has given Charlie all she wanted in a boho kitchen but with added practical worktop and storage space. In her words: “I loved the clean lines of this range, the simplicity and the wood finish.”

Key to maintaining that organisation is hiding waste. That’s why Melina suggested our unique integrated kitchen bins. Fitted with odour-supressing technology and easily removable bins, this hidden waste management solution has helped Charlie keep her floorspace pristine, too.

Similarly, Charlie opted for Anthracite Linen cutlery inserts, which enable her to store all her cutlery and utensils in an attractive manner without needing unsightly plastic trays. Again, Melina knew Charlie, a working mum, could make good use of feel-good storage solutions that spark joy.

“The design service was fantastic!” Charlie gushed, marvelling at her collection of bohemian kitchen accessories on open shelving above her worktops. “I was thoroughly guided through from start to finish. I needed all the help I could get as there were a LOT of decisions to make.”

“Luckily, Melina is super experienced and walked me through the process, bringing my perfect kitchen to life,” she added. Just some suggestions included internal Legrabox drawers, which double the storage area of some drawers and match Charlie’s modern handleless kitchen.

“I love the breakfast bar,” Charlie clarified, regarding her favourite features. She opted for a slim kitchen island with a bar stool overhang and built-in oven and food prep areas. “I was worried the wood might make it feel too heavy […] I was wrong. It all complimented itself beautifully.”

Make no mistake; this Scandi colour palette was all by design, from the room’s wood-adorned LineaPlus drawers to the pale floor tiles. Even better, though, it’s practical. As Charlie put it: “My kitchen has also never felt more organised, which brings me a lot of joy.”

And it’s not just a kitchen, either. Indeed, this space also sports a fully-organised utility room storage solution that has shelves, drawers and a cubby hole perfect for a vacuum cleaner.
